Malnutrition is a major threat to the world’s public health and a leading cause of death for children under five years old. One solution is Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). Also known as Plumpy’Nut, RUTF is a peanut-milk paste that is easy for children to eat and filled with the essential vitamins, minerals, fat and protein small bodies need. Long-lasting and ready to eat without the addition of water, RUTF is an efficient solution for remote regions where refrigeration is limited and clean water is in short supply.
Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) is used for outpatient treatment of acutely malnourished children. Children from 6 months to 5 years (our biggest population) take 2 packets a day. The average treatment lasts 45 days.
